Character and identity
Set inside Brooklyn Bridge Park with the East River lapping at its edge, this 194-room property is the brand's first ground-up build and wears its sustainability credentials openly: LEED Gold, wind-powered, reclaimed and regional materials throughout. The design language is eco-minimalist, all moody neutrals, live greenery, raw wood and stone, with an industrial greenhouse feel in the communal spaces. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the skyline; the rooftop pool and Harriet's Rooftop & Lounge stack up views of Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Barbuto Brooklyn brings California-Italian cooking downstairs, and the Bamford Wellness Spa handles the calm.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded weekenders who want one of the best skyline panoramas in New York, sustainability built into the fabric of the stay, and a rooftop scene that actually delivers on the food as well as the view. Families work too, with connecting rooms and a Starlit Sleepover package for younger kids.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone after polished, anticipatory five-star service should look uptown; staff are pleasant but you'll go hunting for what you need. Rooms are tight by non-NYC standards, the open-plan bathrooms (no fully closing shower or toilet door) are awkward for friends sharing, and the nearest subway is a 12-minute walk.
Bottom line
The view is the product here, and it justifies the rates only if you book into it. Reserve an East River-facing room (Brooklyn Bridge or Manhattan skyline side) rather than a Dumbo-facing category, travel as a couple given the open bathrooms, and plan at least one meal at Harriet's. Solo design travellers and sustainability-conscious guests get the most out of it.
