Character and identity
Borgo Vescine is a restored medieval hamlet set above Radda in Chianti, with 28 rooms and suites spread across stone cottages on more than 100 acres of vineyards and olive groves. The design language stays loyal to its peasant-village roots: cobblestone lanes, terracotta floors, hand-embroidered linens, paired with spa-jet showers and proper Wi-Fi. Two restaurants anchor the cooking, La Terrazza del Borgo and Bistrot La Torre, both leaning on the estate's organic Chianti Classico and Brunello and local produce. A hilltop pool looks out over the Chianti countryside, and the service register is warm, rustic and unhurried.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and wine-minded travellers who want a slow, agricultural Tuscany: vineyard walks, truffle hunts, Vespa tours, horseback riding through the vines, and long dinners under the olive trees. Anyone drawn to a working estate with serious cellar credentials and a genuine sense of place will find their stride here.
Should look elsewhere:
Families chasing a kids' club, urbanites who need nightlife and shopping at the door, or beach seekers. The hamlet setting is remote and quiet by design, and travellers who want polished resort uniformity rather than rustic-village texture should book elsewhere.
Bottom line
The draw here is the estate itself: the wine, the cooking, and a hilltop pool with one of the better views in Chianti. Book the 590-square-foot Superior Suite with Patio for the terrace and garden access, and time the stay around one of the twice-weekly outdoor dinners, Cena in Piazza or Cena in Uliveta. A car is essential.
