Character and identity
Sitting above Raffles City Shopping Mall in the City Hall district, this nearly 800-room twin-tower hotel manages to feel calmer than its scale and address suggest. The lobby makes a statement with an oversized white bubble chandelier, an abstract painting illuminating the check-in desk, and a bubbling waterfall by the entrance. Twelve restaurants and bars run the gamut, from fine dining at JAAN with floor-to-ceiling city views to Prego for Italian and Mikuni for Japanese. The Willow Stream Spa spreads across 23 treatment rooms with cold plunge, steam and sauna, and a large outdoor pool anchors the leisure deck.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and travellers who want a polished, central Singapore base with serious eating and drinking on tap, a substantial spa, and direct mall and MRT access. Design-minded guests will appreciate the public-space visual moments, and Fairmont Gold bookers get a quieter lounge experience with VIP check-in and complimentary food and drink.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone wanting an intimate, boutique feel should skip it: this is a very large hotel sharing its pool with the 1,200-room Swissôtel next door, so the deck fills up fast in warm months. Seekers of true seclusion or beach access won't find it here.
Bottom line
The draw here is breadth: twelve restaurants, a serious spa, and a City Hall location wired straight into the mall and transit, all delivered at a scale that somehow still finds quiet corners. Book a recently renovated South Tower room, or upgrade to Fairmont Gold for lounge access and a calmer arrival, and aim for cooler months when the shared pool deck is less pressured.
