Character and identity
Set on Pinney's Beach on quiet, mountainous Nevis, this is a low-rise plantation-style resort spread across sprawling grounds: 189 recently refreshed rooms and suites in two-storey cottages, plus 50 villas, palm groves, three infinity pools and a Robert Trent Jones II golf course threading through the rainforest with monkeys in the canopy. A multi-million-dollar refresh has added three dining concepts: On the Dune for modern American and Caribbean, Mediterranean-leaning EsQuilina, and crowned monkey RUM BAR for cigars and cocktails. The spa leans tropical, with lava rock waterfalls and plunge-pool sala decks. Arrival is via a scenic shuttle and 18-minute speedboat from St Kitts.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and families who want a classic Caribbean beach holiday without the St Barths scene. Tennis players (ten courts across three surfaces), golfers, and anyone who values genuine seclusion will get the most from it. The kids' club, teen room and dedicated family pool make multigenerational trips easy.
Should look elsewhere:
Travellers who want walkable nightlife, boutiques or a buzzy island scene should pick somewhere else; Nevis is deliberately sleepy. The boat-and-shuttle arrival, while included, adds time and is a hassle if you're chasing a quick weekend. Design purists chasing contemporary minimalism won't find it here.
Bottom line
The pull here is Nevis itself: a quiet, old-Caribbean island where the resort has the room, the beach and the activities programme to fill a week without you ever leaving. Spend the money if you want seclusion with proper infrastructure (golf, tennis, kids' club, four restaurants). Book a mountain-facing room rather than defaulting to ocean view; the rainforest backdrop is the better outlook.
