Character and identity
Grand Velas Boutique Hotel opened in late 2023 as the adults-only, all-inclusive sibling to the brand's two other Cabo properties, set over a private stretch of white sand on the Sea of Cortez. Ricardo Elías's architecture steps down across six levels, with marble corridors, a forest-inspired lobby and a palette of natural materials that draws in the landscape. All 79 suites have private outdoor space with either a jacuzzi or plunge pool. Dining anchors the experience: robata-style Japanese-Mexican fusion at Loto, ceviche and tacos at Roca. SE Spa opens directly onto the beach, and butler service runs throughout.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want a quieter, smaller-scale alternative to Cabo's mega-resorts, with serious cooking, a private beach and the convenience of an all-inclusive rate that genuinely covers premium drinks, in-suite service and entertainment. Spa-focused guests and food-led trips will get the most out of it.
Should look elsewhere:
Families (it's adults-only) and anyone with mobility concerns, since the stepped six-level layout means constant stairs or elevators between the beach, restaurants, gym and boutique. Guests wanting a distinctly Mexican aesthetic may find the design reads more Southern California than Baja.
Bottom line
What sets this place apart is the combination of scale and intent: 79 suites, each with a private water feature, paired with cooking and butler service that feel calibrated rather than mass-produced. Book a suite with a plunge pool and an ocean angle, request a lower-level room if stairs are a concern, and target the shoulder months when Cabo's rates ease.
