Character and identity
A 35-room beachfront hideaway at the quiet southern tip of Tamarindo Bay, where howler monkeys move through the canopy and iguanas sun on the paths. The architecture leans low-slung and tropical, with terracotta-tiled rooms, four-poster beds, and beachfront bungalows that open to outdoor showers, whirlpool tubs and hammocks. A shaded pool sits secluded under towering palms, and the open-air spa is tucked into the gardens with treatments like the Sunray Wrap and Mud Lime Facial. El Barco, the beachside restaurant, runs a seasonal fusion menu heavy on ceviche and grilled fish. Eco-conscious, intentionally unplugged, and walkable into town when you want it.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples, honeymooners and design-minded travellers who want a barefoot, low-key Pacific stay with surf at the door (there's an on-site instructor), a proper spa, and the seclusion of a small property without losing access to town. Pool-and-hammock people will be very happy here.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone wanting a high-energy resort with multiple restaurants, kids' clubs, in-room flatscreens or polished big-hotel amenities. The backpacker crowd in central Tamarindo won't find their scene here either, and travellers who need to stay plugged in should note WiFi is limited to public areas.
Bottom line
The defining draw is the setting: a genuinely secluded stretch of sand at the bay's tip, with one restaurant, one shaded pool, a garden spa and the sound of surf at night. Book a beachfront bungalow if the budget allows, the unobstructed Pacific views, outdoor shower and hammock are the reason to come. Best for couples who actively want to disconnect.
