Character and identity
Set on 1,210 acres of rural Punta del Este, Fasano Punta del Este is a private enclave 10 minutes from La Barra yet feeling worlds away. The layout splits between a main building with 10 rooms and 20 standalone bungalows scattered across the hillside, all framing the sweeping landscape. The design language is edgy and modern against timeless materials, with a swimming pool carved directly into the natural rock. A standalone spa with an indoor garden offers six aromatherapy fragrances, and the grounds carry an 18-hole golf course, tennis, polo, equestrian center and a private river beach. Service runs personal and attentive.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and well-heeled families who want seclusion with serious recreation on tap. The traveller here values privacy, sport (golf, polo, tennis, watersports), design with edge, and quiet evenings on a remote hillside rather than nightclubs and beachfront scenes. Bookworms will gravitate to the library, and the Kids' Club handles children well.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone who wants to walk out of the hotel onto an ocean beach should pick a coastal property; the private beach is on the river and the sea is a short drive. Off-season visitors (April to October) lose the bungalows entirely, and there's no on-site hair salon.
Bottom line
This is a country estate first and a beach hotel a distant second, defined by the scale of its grounds and the breadth of activities rather than proximity to the ocean. Spend the money if you want sport, space and quiet over Punta's social circuit. Book a bungalow for the views, target November to March for full inventory, and reserve January at least four months ahead.
