Character and identity
A 74-room boutique hotel in Bogenhausen, set across the Isar from Munich's centre in one of the city's most affluent, stylish residential quarters. Owned by the Bavarian Kuffler family (who also run the Palais an der Oper and the Seehaus beer garden in the English Garden), the property trades on classically styled rooms and suites, a wrapped inner courtyard garden used for breakfast through dinner in warmer months, a hotel restaurant, and a compact wellness area with cardio kit, steam bath and sauna. Service is the personal, recognise-you register typical of family-owned houses.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want a quiet, residential base with character rather than a lobby-scene city hotel. Ideal if you like walking or cycling (Prinzregentenstraße delivers you to the English Garden in 10 minutes and the Altstadt soon after), value attentive personal service, and enjoy good neighbourhood restaurants and theatre on the doorstep.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone who wants to step straight out into Marienplatz and the shopping streets should stay central. The wellness area is functional rather than a destination spa, massages are booked in from outside, and the classical room style won't suit guests after a contemporary design product.
Bottom line
What defines this hotel is the trade-off it asks you to make: a leafy, affluent neighbourhood and genuinely personal service in exchange for a 10-minute hop to the centre. Take the deal if you prefer residential calm to tourist traffic. Book a balcony room overlooking the inner courtyard garden, and aim for warmer months when the courtyard is in full use.
