Character and identity
Set on 5,381 feet of private white sand between West Bay's skyline and Katara Cultural Village, this is a sprawling beach resort masquerading as a city hotel. The discreet lobby gives little away, but inside you'll find 375 spacious rooms and suites, manicured gardens, a free-form pool and ten food and beverage outlets, including the world's largest Belgian Café and La Mar by Gaston Acurio for Peruvian cebiche and tiradito. Spa InterContinental runs 16 treatment rooms with a ladies-only indoor pool and quartz massage table. Service is friendly and approachable rather than formal.
Who's it for
Best for:
Families and leisure travellers who want a proper beach holiday with city access. The shaded kids' pool, indoor playroom, water sports, tennis, padel and squash courts make it a multi-day base. Business travellers staying for stretches will appreciate the West Bay proximity combined with resort downtime.
Should look elsewhere:
Couples after seclusion, design-led intimacy or quiet dining should look at smaller properties. The beach, pool and restaurants get genuinely crowded on weekends and during Eid, and several outlets close during Ramadan. Service is warm but not in the formal luxury register.
Bottom line
What you're really buying is the longest private beach in Doha attached to a ten-outlet dining complex, which makes this a resort stay rather than a city one. Book a Club room or suite for the lounge access (breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails), reserve La Mar in advance, and avoid Eid weeks unless crowds are part of the appeal.
