Character and identity
Set in the industrial Glattpark district, Kameha Grand is a deliberately theatrical counterpoint to its glass-and-steel surroundings. The 2015 building reads boxy from outside, but the interior leans into a neo-Baroque sense of humour: outsized cowbells suspended over the lobby, chocolate-bar walls in the rooms, and reception handled at personable desks rather than a counter. Eleven themed suites (Diva, Burlesque, Fair Play, Ghostwriter) come kitted with poker tables, workout kit or game rooms. The penthouse Spa and Fitness Power House offers four treatment rooms, a 24/7 gym and a rooftop terrace with Alpine views, and there's an Italian restaurant, several bars and one of the region's largest ballrooms.
Who's it for
Best for:
Business travellers needing fast airport access (under two miles) who still want personality after hours, plus design-minded couples who find conventional Swiss luxury too restrained. The themed suites suit groups, bachelor or bachelorette stays, and anyone who enjoys a Vegas-inflected wink with their cocktail.
Should look elsewhere:
Sightseers who want to walk out the door into old-town Zurich will find themselves on a tram for the five-mile trip to the centre. Travellers who prefer understated, classically Swiss interiors will likely find the maximalist styling exhausting rather than charming.
Bottom line
The draw here is theatrical design and a genuinely warm welcome, not location or restraint. Book it for the themed suites and the rooftop spa, not for proximity to the lake or the Altstadt. Worth it for a layover weekend or a design-led business stay; pick one of the eleven concept suites to get the full effect, and use Marriott Bonvoy rates where available.
