Character and identity
Rising between floors 18 and 38 of a flying V-shape tower in Kowloon, this 495-room Kimpton pulls off a boutique feel despite its scale, thanks to a 15th-floor sky lobby that buzzes like a mini United Nations and a layout that delivers harbour or city views from every room. The design language mixes mid-century terrazzo, starburst chandeliers, pink velvet, sage and chartreuse, rattan, and slabs of marble. Vicky Lau's Jija anchors the food, a 50th-floor infinity pool with Palm Springs energy anchors the social scene, and service runs young, perky, and proactive.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-minded couples, solo travellers, foodies, and shoppers who want a Hong Kong base that pairs a great view, a strong restaurant, and a lively rooftop pool without the old-guard formality. Pet owners are properly looked after. The 5 p.m. complimentary social hour suits sociable guests who like a glass of wine with strangers.
Should look elsewhere:
Families wanting a dedicated kids' programme, traditionalists who prefer enclosed marble bathrooms (tubs sit in the bedroom, which is awkward with a friend rather than a partner), and spa-led travellers booking before April 2026, when the Angsana opens.
Bottom line
The defining draw here is that every room looks over Victoria Harbour or the city at a price that undercuts the Hong Kong norm, wrapped in genuinely current design and a credible restaurant in Jija. Couples should stretch to a Kimpton Harbour Suite for the sunken jacuzzi by the window; if you can wait until spring 2026, the new Angsana Spa will round out the offer.
