Character and identity
Tucked into the historic Kasbah within steps of the Royal Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the throng of Djemaa el-Fnaa, La Sultana is a 28-key riad that trades volume for intricacy. Orange-shaded patios, a palm-fringed courtyard pool and ornate, historically inspired rooms set the register. La Table de La Sultana cooks a seasonal Moroccan-French menu across a rooftop terrace and a lantern-lit courtyard, while the spa is the property's quiet showpiece: candlelit pools framed by pink marble columns and two mosaic-tiled hammams. Service leans into the authentic-luxury idea, with cooking classes, street-food tours and Atlas balloon outings on offer.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want to be inside the Medina rather than retreating to a palmeraie resort, and who value intimacy, intricate Moroccan craftsmanship, a serious spa and curated cultural experiences over big-hotel scale or a party scene.
Should look elsewhere:
Families wanting kids' clubs, lawns and pool space, or travellers who prefer the calm and acreage of a Palmeraie estate. The Kasbah setting puts you close to the noise and crowds of the souks, so light sleepers and anyone after resort-style breadth should book elsewhere.
Bottom line
What sells this riad is the combination of Kasbah location and the spa: the Roman-bathhouse pools and twin hammams are genuinely the reason to stay. Spend the money if you want the Medina at your doorstep with a calm retreat to return to. Book a higher suite category for space inside the historic shell, and plan dinner on the rooftop at least once.
