Character and identity
Set into the western edge of Tivoli Gardens, Nimb occupies a 1909 Moorish-inspired palace of white stucco arches and domes, designed by the same architect who shaped Tivoli itself. A 2017 glass-fronted extension by Pei Cobb Freed adds Nordic calm to the fairytale exterior. The room count is intimate, with all but one overlooking the park. The culinary line-up is unusually deep for a small hotel: Nimb Brasserie, Fru Nimb's smørrebrød, Gemyse for vegetables, Bar'N'Grill, Cakenhagen, plus the rooftop bar and pool. A fireplace-warmed Nimb Bar anchors the ground floor, and the wellness floor runs to hammam, hot cardio and acupuncture.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples chasing a romantic, design-rich city stay who want to eat exceptionally well without leaving the building, plus families happy to trade space for a Tivoli-side location (children get their own breakfast menu, mini robes and kid-friendly minibar items, and hotel guests enter the park free). Design-minded travellers will appreciate the old-meets-new architecture.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone wanting a quiet, secluded retreat: this sits inside an amusement park, with crowds and noise that come with it. Travellers who prize large modern rooms or a resort footprint will find the boutique scale and historic bones limiting, and solo business guests may find the romance-heavy register overdone.
Bottom line
What defines a stay here is the address itself: waking up inside Tivoli, with a Moorish palace, five restaurants and a rooftop infinity pool effectively functioning as your private clubhouse. Spend the money if you want a romantic, food-led city break and book a park-view room with a fireplace or balcony. Avoid peak Tivoli season if crowds drain the romance for you.
