Character and identity
Perry Lane occupies two facing buildings on the southern edge of Savannah's historic district, new construction designed to read as if it has always been there. The 167 rooms sit above a ground-floor Emporium that bundles a modern French bistro with Southern accents, a wine shop and bar, deli, gelato counter, coffee bar and mini-market. Across the lane, The Wayward mixes serious cocktails alongside Eighties arcade games. Up top, one of Savannah's few hotel pools opens onto a rooftop bar with skyline views and a tropical, 1960s feel. The art collection, sourced with local input, runs throughout.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-minded couples and creative travellers who want to be plugged into Savannah's SCAD-driven social scene, close to Forsyth Park, the squares and the Mercer Williams House. Anyone who values strong food and drink under one roof, a good pool scene, and a hotel that pulls in a local crowd rather than feeling sealed off.
Should look elsewhere:
Families wanting a tub in the bathroom (rooms have rain showers only) or sprawling resort amenities. Travellers booking the cheapest category in the main building should know those rooms feel tighter and less private than the tower. Anyone wanting waterfront proximity will be a walk away.
Bottom line
What sets this place apart is how thoroughly it has woven itself into Savannah rather than floating above it, from the architecture down to the Emporium's tenants. Couples and design literates are the natural fit; book a tower room for the extra space and privacy, and aim for shoulder season when the rooftop is usable but the city isn't at full heat.
