Character and identity
SLS Cancun sits inside the gated Puerto Cancun development, stretching along 820 feet of white sand with its own 175-slip marina and private beach club. Opened in 2021 and designed by Piero Lissoni, it is intentionally small: just 45 suites, with the rest of the building given over to private residences, which keeps the public spaces uncrowded. Interiors run to sandy wood, artisanal prints and deep-blue textiles that pick up the Caribbean palette outside. Expect a Tom Weiskopf 18-hole course, the Ciel Spa with thermal pool, and a polished, design-led register throughout.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-minded couples who want a quiet, modern beach base with a serious view, a marina on the doorstep and golf, spa and shopping all within reach. The small suite count appeals to travellers who find the big Cancun resorts overwhelming and prefer something more residential in feel.
Should look elsewhere:
Families wanting a full kids' club programme, party-seekers chasing the Hotel Zone strip, and anyone after a deep roster of in-house restaurants and bars. Solo foodies looking for multiple signature dining venues will find the on-property offering relatively contained.
Bottom line
What you are paying for here is scale and setting: only 45 suites on a long private beach, with a marina, golf course and Lissoni-designed interiors built around the sea view. Book a sea-facing suite (ideally one with a hammock on the balcony), and target shoulder season for better rates. Couples and design literates will get the most from it.
