Character and identity
Set on a calm cove in Torba, six miles from Bodrum proper, Susona is a 70-room seasonal resort tiered down to the Aegean in whitewashed, water-drop forms inspired by the mermaid of Turkish myth. Interiors run pale: whites, beige and pastels, rounded modern furniture, free-standing tubs by the window. Dining splits between formal MALVA, breezier Ezi, Frankie Beach Club poolside, and Nama Sushi & Raw Bar at sunset, with much of the produce harvested on site or sourced locally. The Spa by Spa Soul anchors things in a marble hammam, and service strikes a Turkish-warm, first-name register without hovering.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and families who want a quieter, more composed alternative to the louder Turquoise Coast scene. Design-minded travellers who appreciate restrained Mediterranean interiors, food-led guests drawn to local-sourcing and a serious sushi room, and active types who'll use the tennis court, water sports off the jetty, and gym between spa visits.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone wanting a long, walkable sand beach: Family Beach is a narrow sliver and most lounging happens on wooden jetties and sun decks. Party-seekers chasing the old Nikki Beach energy, or guests who want Bodrum nightlife and shopping on the doorstep, will find Torba too quiet.
Bottom line
The defining pull here is the setting and the calm: a secluded cove, sea views from essentially every room, and a tone that lets you move between swimsuit, gym kit and evening wear without anyone blinking. Book a sea-view room at minimum, or an Aegean Suite if you're travelling as a group, and angle for shoulder-season dates when the jetties are easier to reserve.
