Character and identity
The Cove is the adults-leaning, all-suite flagship within the sprawling Atlantis complex on Paradise Island, reached via a private access road that buffers it from the busier Royal Towers. The 600 suites all carry balconies and ocean views, and the open-air atrium leans into East Asian design cues, koi ponds, light woods, sand-and-coral palettes, with the Caribbean audible from the lobby. José Andrés's Fish anchors the dining, the 30,000-square-foot Mandara Spa runs Balinese-influenced treatments, and the 22nd-floor Lapis Club Lounge handles concierge needs. Service carries genuine Bahamian warmth, often via a WhatsApp-equipped butler.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want the Atlantis machine (waterpark, aquariums, Dolphin Cay, 21 restaurants) on tap but prefer to retreat to something quieter, with a 21-and-over Cove Pool, cabanas, and direct access to the guest-only Cove and Paradise beaches. Families wanting suite space and proximity to Aquaventure and the kids' club will also do well.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone seeking an intimate, boutique Bahamas experience should keep looking; this is still a 600-suite hotel inside a vast resort, with longer internal walks because of The Cove's peripheral position. Travellers who dislike casinos, theme-park energy or heavily programmed environments will not find their groove here.
Bottom line
What makes The Cove work is the trick of feeling residential and adult while keeping the full Atlantis circus a short walk away: you get ocean-view suites, a serious spa, and Andrés's cooking without forfeiting the waterpark and marine habitats. Book an Ocean Suite at minimum, push to a higher floor for the sunset, and consider Lapis Club access if you want the concierge layer to actually earn its keep.
