Character and identity
Set on seven landscaped acres beside the Delhi Golf Club, The Lodhi feels nothing like a city hotel despite sitting a ten-minute walk from Nizamuddin and eight minutes by car from Humayun's Tomb. The architecture reads as a contemporary Indian palace fortress: monumental in scale yet intimate at 40 keys, with two restaurants, a spa and a pool. Rooms start at 1,350 square feet and run up to two-bedroom suites; eight of the eleven categories come with a private terrace and a jade-green Khareda stone plunge pool flanked by a daybed.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-literate couples and well-travelled solo guests who want Delhi's culture and history without the noise. The plunge pool terraces make this a hideaway for honeymooners and anyone who treats the room as the destination. Also strong for golfers, given the club next door, and for guests basing themselves near Humayun's Tomb and Nizamuddin.
Should look elsewhere:
Families wanting a kids' club and resort-style activity won't find it here, and travellers who want to be walking distance from Connaught Place or Khan Market shopping and nightlife will find the location quieter than expected. With just two restaurants on site, serial diners may want more variety.
Bottom line
The case for The Lodhi rests on the rooms themselves: oversized, terraced and, in most categories, fitted with a private plunge pool that genuinely changes how you experience Delhi. Book one of the eight terrace categories with the Khareda stone pool, or don't bother; a standard deluxe, however generous at 1,350 square feet, misses the point of the property.
