Character and identity
A 58-room boutique on the bayside in Stone Harbor, three blocks from 96th Street Beach and a 16-mile run to Cape May, The Reeds stands out against the Jersey Shore's motel sprawl. Rooms are bright and contemporary, with the Corner Kings making the most of oversized bay windows. The food and drink lineup is broader than most properties this size: all-day dining at Sax, seasonal waterside cooking at Water Star Grille, tacos and tequila at Buckets, plus Stone Harbor Pizza Pub and Café Cubos. A rooftop plunge pool, two hot tubs, and Salt Spa with a brine lounge and Turkish bath round it out.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and families who want a polished, design-aware base on the Jersey Shore without slumming it in a motel. The beach butler programme (electric shuttle, chairs, umbrellas, towels, tags) from mid-May to October is a real draw, as are complimentary summer yoga, the rooftop pool, and the multiple on-site restaurants.
Should look elsewhere:
Guests who want to walk directly onto sand from their room: this is a bayside property, not beachfront, and the shuttle is part of the routine. Off-season visitors will also find several restaurants and the beach service closed.
Bottom line
The pull here is a genuine boutique experience in a stretch of coast that rarely offers one, backed by a serious dining roster and a thoughtful beach-shuttle programme. Book a Corner King for the bay windows, and aim for the mid-May to October window when Water Star Grille, Buckets, and the beach service are all running.
