Character and identity
A 28-room adults-only boutique a block off Palm Springs' main drag, Holiday House is the 2017 reimagining of the former Chase Hotel by Richard Crisman and Jeff Brock (of Sparrows Lodge and Bar Cecil), with interiors by Mark D. Sikes. The look is blue-and-white midcentury-meets-boho with rattan, bold textiles, and a serious art collection that includes an original Lichtenstein. Two low-slung buildings wrap a pool with chaises, a lawn, shuffleboard court, and a pergola-covered firepit deck. The Pantry serves Cal-Americana on a plant-dotted patio, and service is attentive without fuss.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-literate couples and small groups of friends who want a central, walkable Palm Springs base with strong aesthetics, an art collection worth touring, and intimate-scale extras like a rosé spritzer welcome, honor-system ice cream cart, beach cruisers, and a generous breakfast spread.
Should look elsewhere:
Families (it's adults-only), anyone needing in-room TVs or a full-service resort with multiple restaurants and a spa, and travellers chasing total seclusion. The town-centre location means VillageFest crowds and street life are right outside.
Bottom line
The pull here is design density at a small scale: 28 rooms, a museum-grade art collection, and obsessive detail, all a block from downtown. Spring for a ground-floor "Best" room with private patio and outdoor shower (room 10 is a sweet spot), or a second-floor "Best" for the balcony and indoor soaking tub. Book shoulder season for milder pool weather and softer rates.
