Character and identity
Set into the granite outcrops and Mediterranean gardens above Liscia di Vacca bay, Pitrizza is one of the founding properties of the Costa Smeralda enclave, opened in the 1960s and shaped by Luigi Vietti to disappear into the hillside via rooftop gardens, local stone and terracotta. The 66 rooms, suites and villas lean rustic-luxury, with handcrafted furnishings, terraces, and in some cases private pools and sea views. A saltwater pool carved into the rocks, a private golden-sand beach, tennis and padel courts, and The Grill (Sardinian cooking under a thatched roof) anchor the day.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and well-heeled families who want the glamour of the Costa Smeralda without sitting inside it, with Porto Cervo's boutiques and restaurants ten minutes away and a quiet, garden-and-granite hideaway to return to. Yacht charters, watersports and concierge-arranged hikes, wineries and archaeological excursions reward guests who want to actually do things.
Should look elsewhere:
Travellers wanting a buzzy, scene-driven beach club atmosphere or a large resort with multiple restaurants and nightlife on site will find Pitrizza too quiet and self-contained. Urbanites who dislike a car-dependent location should also reconsider.
Bottom line
What you're paying for here is the architecture and the setting: a discreet, low-slung property that genuinely melts into the Sardinian coast, with a private beach and rock-cut saltwater pool that few neighbours can match. Book a suite or villa with a private pool, ideally in June or September when the bay is warm but the Costa Smeralda crowds have thinned.
