SHA Wellness Clinic
Review
Character and identity
Tucked between the Sierra Helada Natural Park and the Mediterranean north of Alicante, SHA Wellness Clinic is a 93-room medical-wellness retreat that functions less like a hotel and more like a parallel world of white-robed guests pursuing a better version of themselves. The architecture is crisp and modern, the mood quietly purposeful. Expect integrated programmes spanning preventative medicine, advanced detox, healthy ageing, dentistry and neurocognitive assessment, paired with macrobiotic cooking that is genuinely good. A rooftop pool, on-site cinema, hair salon, well-equipped gym and cooking school round out a self-contained ecosystem where international doctors and therapists work alongside founder Alfredo Battaller Perietti's family.
Who's it for
Best for:
Time-poor executives wanting fast, measurable results on a 900-calorie reset; repeat guests treating it as an annual health MOT; solo female travellers who feel safe and looked after; and discreet high-profile guests who appreciate anonymity under the uniform robe. Anyone wanting one destination for weight, detox, dental work and cognitive screening.
Should look elsewhere:
Travellers chasing a design-led hotel experience or plush suites will find the rooms functional rather than fancy, with showers instead of baths and scales on the counter. It is not a beach resort, not a place for indulgent dining, and not suitable for guests seeking specialist oncology care.
Bottom line
The defining strength here is breadth: nowhere else combines medical diagnostics, dentistry, neurocognitive work, detox and macrobiotic cuisine under one roof with this level of expertise. Commit to one of the five programmes, book a room with a terrace jacuzzi if you want privacy, and add an extra day to your first stay so appointments with the doctors you actually want do not slip away.
