Green O
Review
Character and identity
Set within the 37,000-acre Paws Up ranch in Montana's Blackfoot River Valley, Green O is an adults-only enclave of 12 standalone cabins scattered through ponderosa pine forest, 35 minutes from Missoula. The design language reads as Old West cabin crossed with Scandinavian penthouse: wide-plank floors, floor-to-ceiling glass, outdoor fireplaces and private hot tubs. Choose between four haus typologies, including the Tree Haus suspended 23 feet up and the Light Haus with a bedroom skylight. Everything orbits The Social Haus, where a nightly tasting menu comes out of an open, wood-fired kitchen. Service is tip-free, all-inclusive, and quietly attentive.
Who's it for
Best for:
Design-literate couples in their 30s and up who want to disconnect without surrendering creature comforts. It suits travellers who care about a serious tasting-menu dinner, want privacy between cabins, and like the idea of dog sledding, hot-air ballooning or clay shooting by day. The included Lexus and airport transfers make logistics painless.
Should look elsewhere:
Families with children (it's strictly adults-only), anyone wanting a walkable scene or varied restaurant choice beyond The Social Haus, and travellers who prefer beach or resort-pool energy. If you need spa treatments in conventional indoor rooms rather than tents, the set-up may feel rustic.
Bottom line
What sets this place apart is the all-inclusive, no-decisions rhythm: chef Brandon Cunningham's nightly tasting menu, a Lexus at your door, and a cabin engineered for stargazing from bed. Splurge on the Tree Haus or Light Haus if architecture is the draw; the Round and Green hauses put the hot tub directly on the patio. Shoulder seasons offer the widest activity range.
