Character and identity
Set on Long Beach's sugar-white sand on Phu Quoc's developed western coast, Regent is an all-suite-and-villa resort of around 126 keys, with roughly 63 villas circling a lagoon flanked by two eight-to-ten-storey hotel wings. The design language, by Singapore's Blink Design Group, draws on traditional Vietnamese gian nha courtyards: black stone, teak, creamy marble, bronze screens patterned after wooden trusses. Six restaurants and bars span Rice Market's pho-and-croissant breakfasts, the omakase counter at Oku, beachfront Mediterranean at Ocean Club, and rooftop gin cocktails at Fu Bar. Service is warm, anticipatory and noticeably sharp.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want a polished, contemporary beach resort with private pools at every accommodation, thoughtful in-villa touches (full kitchens in many units, double minibars, complimentary laundry and cabanas), and a credible food and drink line-up. Families do well too: connecting villa gates, shallow pools, a generous kids' club and the chartered Serenity yacht for snorkelling days.
Should look elsewhere:
Culture-seekers will find Phu Quoc thin compared with mainland Vietnam, and the surrounding "integrated resort complex" includes neighbouring apartment construction. The spa, while well-equipped, currently delivers competent rather than memorable treatments. Anyone wanting a genuinely secluded, untouched stretch of coast should look further afield.
Bottom line
What sets this resort apart is the sheer thoughtfulness of the villa product: private pools, full kitchens, double minibars and a level of detail that quietly outclasses most of the competition in the region. Book a Lagoon or Beach Pool Villa for proximity to the sand, or upgrade to Regent Club for lounge access and Range Rover airport transfers. Pair with a few days upcountry.
