Character and identity
Reached by a 15-minute speedboat from Cambodia's south coast, this 40-villa retreat occupies its own 30-acre jungle island, with residences so well camouflaged that the jetty approach reveals almost nothing of the hotel. You get around on foot or by golf cart along narrow pathways. The main building cascades down the hillside to an infinity pool, with a boardwalk leading on to a small cove for snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding. Dining splits between relaxed AHA and the more polished Tree, with the Double-Dip Hangout ice cream shop and Sunset Bar rounding things out. The hilltop spa, with yoga led by visiting practitioners, is the centrepiece.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and families after genuine seclusion and a wellness-led rhythm, plus design-minded travellers who appreciate the eco-philosophy (island-bottled water, indigenous butterfly breeding) and the in-villa iPad controls. The Fly Into the Nest kids' club, with sandcastle building and seed planting, makes it work for families too.
Should look elsewhere:
Beach purists will find the cove modest rather than expansive, and anyone wanting variety of restaurants, nightlife or shoreline excursions will feel the limits of a 40-villa private island. The boat transfer also rules it out for very short stays.
Bottom line
The defining feature here is privacy: thoughtful villa placement means you feel alone on the island even at full occupancy, and the hilltop spa and yoga programme set the pace of a stay. Book it if you want a wellness-and-seclusion week rather than a beach-and-bar one. A pool villa with sea outlook is the category to target, ideally paired with a multi-night stay to justify the speedboat transfer.
