Character and identity
Set on a 30-acre hilltop above the quieter east coast of Paros, near the village of Piso Livadi, Summer Senses is a contemporary Cycladic resort of 100 rooms spread across eleven categories, four with private pools. The aesthetic is pared-back island modern: natural wood, Parian marble bathrooms, terraces or balconies on every key. Three pools stagger down toward the Aegean, including a shallow family pool. Dining centres on Galazia Hytra, a sibling to the Michelin-starred Athens original, and the Anassa Spa by Idolo runs Germaine de Capuccini protocols. Service skews quietly attentive rather than performative.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want the Cyclades without the Mykonos crush or Santorini queues, plus families drawn by the shallow lounge pool and three-minute walk to Punda Beach. Foodies will gravitate to Galazia Hytra; spa-led guests get a serious treatment menu. Yacht charters and island boat days are easily arranged.
Should look elsewhere:
Anyone wanting a beachfront room, walk-out sand, or a buzzy urban scene at the door should pass. Parikia is a 30-minute drive, and while Punda's day clubs are close, the resort itself is hilltop and tranquil. Travellers needing dining variety beyond two restaurants and two bars may feel hemmed in.
Bottom line
The pull here is the combination of hilltop seclusion, a genuinely accomplished fine-dining restaurant, and a polished spa, on an island that still feels like the Cyclades. Book a suite with private pool if the budget allows; the standard rooms are handsome but the pool suites are what justify the spend. Aim for shoulder season (June or September) for calmer rates and clearer terraces.
